Summary
Welcome to our ceramic pottery hand-building course, where you'll discover the fundamental techniques for creating beautiful ceramic pieces. During these three evening classes, you'll delve into the art of pinching, coiling, and slab work, gaining the skills you need to craft your creations.
Content of the courses
In the first class, you will learn the intricacies of these hand-modelling techniques and have the opportunity to create 3-4 pieces. In the second class, you will learn how to smooth and trim your pieces to prepare them for the first firing. In the third class, you will prepare them for the last firing and have the chance to paint or glaze your masterpieces.
Duration of the courses
- First class: hand modeling techniques - 2h30
- Second class: trimming and final touches - 2h30
- Third class: painting or glazing your pieces- 2h30
Organisation of the courses
Each course is divided into three sessions held on the 3 first Thursdays of each month. The last week of the month is designated as a catch-up week for any missed classes, provided the studio is open. Please verify the studio's availability in advance if you need to make up any missed classes. Example of the course organisation:
- Thursday January: 09 January, 16, and 23, from 18h30 until 21h
More information
To ensure a personalized learning experience, we limit each class to 4-5 participants, allowing plenty of dedicated time for questions and guidance. Following the completion of the course, you can look forward to picking up your finished pieces four weeks after the last session.
Classes are taught in English or French.
You can catch up on one class per month. Catch-up classes are non-refundable if not taken. You can reschedule up to 2 weeks in advance. The studio is not liable for any damage to ceramics, as cracks or damage may occur during the firing process.
